Program Overview

Within the 8-week hands-on course, participants will immerse themselves in 32 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on labs. Located on-site and equipped with state-of the art technology and facilities. Developed in collaboration with Portland Community College, this program represents a partnership focused on providing opportunities to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the semiconductor industry.

This program provides:

8 weeks of lecture & hands-on training
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) training
Sample preparation
Lab safety
Soft skills and professional development

Graduates receive:

Lam-recognized certification
CTE credits through Portland Community College
Exposure to industry mentors and professional networks

Enrollment Details

The Microscopy Technician Training Program is offered in partnership with Portland Community College. Classes are hosted on Saturday’s, onsite at Lam Research Tualatin Campus, free of charge to accepted applicants.

To enroll in the program, prospective students must complete an application form that includes personal information, educational background, relevant experience in science or laboratory work, and provide a brief personal statement explaining your interest in microscopy.

During the selection process, your application will be reviewed, and an interview will be conducted before acceptance and enrollment confirmation.

Accepted candidates will receive an official offer letter along with an enrollment packet detailing the program schedule, Portland Community College registration, course textbook and information on student orientation and class location.
