Biography

Tim Archer

Timothy M. Archer is president and chief executive officer at Lam Research. During his tenure as CEO, he has driven revenue growth of more than 50%* and an EPS increase of more than 85%*. He joined the company in 2012 following its acquisition of Novellus Systems, Inc. (“Novellus”) when he began serving as Lam’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was later promoted to president and chief operating officer, and then president and chief executive officer in December 2018.

Tim currently serves on the International Board of Directors for SEMI, the global industry association representing the electronics manufacturing and design supply chain. From 2020 to 2022, he served as chairman of the board for the National Consortium for Graduate Engineering Degrees for Minorities (GEM): a nonprofit organization in the U.S. that is dedicated to increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in engineering and science at the master’s and doctoral levels.

Prior to joining Lam, Tim had an 18-year tenure at Novellus where he served as the company’s COO, and held other executive positions supporting worldwide sales, marketing, customer satisfaction, and product and business development. He began his career at Tektronix, Inc. in 1989, developing processes for high-speed bipolar integrated circuits.

Tim completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Business and earned his B.S. degree in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology.

Doug Bettinger

Douglas R. Bettinger is executive vice president, chief financial officer, and chief accounting officer at Lam Research, with responsibility for overseeing the company’s finance, tax, treasury, investor relations, and information technology practices.

Prior to joining Lam, Doug served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Avago Technologies Ltd. and held a variety of executive finance positions with Xilinx, Inc., 24/7 Customer, and Intel Corp.

He earned his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Michigan, and his B.S. degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Audrey Charles

Audrey Charles is senior vice president of corporate strategy at Lam Research, with responsibility for strategic planning and marketing.

She has served in a variety of leadership positions for the company since joining Lam in 1995, including senior vice president of Global Human Resources, vice president of corporate initiatives, and chief of staff to the CEO.

Audrey earned her M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management and her B.S. in applied physics from Dublin City University.

Tina Correia

Tina Correia is corporate vice president of Investor Relations and Corporate Finance at Lam Research.

She previously led Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Lam and has served in a variety of leadership positions since joining the company in 2002, including chief of staff to the CEO and vice president of business finance.

Prior to joining Lam, Tina served at BroadVision, Inc., where she most recently served as the company’s vice president and corporate controller in addition to several senior-level finance positions. She previously worked in the assurance practice at KPMG, LLP, supporting the firm’s technology clients.

Tina earned her B.S. degree in business administration with emphases in accounting and finance from the University of California at Berkeley.

Rick Gottscho

Richard A. Gottscho is executive vice president and chief technology officer at Lam Research, where he is responsible for developing breakthrough solutions that enable the next generation of chip innovation. He previously served as executive vice president of Lam’s Global Products Group, overseeing development of the company’s Deposition, Etch, and Clean product portfolios.

Prior to joining Lam in 1996, Rick was a member of Bell Laboratories for 15 years, where he oversaw extensive research in electronics materials, electronics packaging, and flat panel displays. He is also a fellow of the American Physical and American Vacuum Societies and has served on numerous program committees for major conferences in plasma science and engineering. He regularly presents at leading universities and industry conferences around the world.

Rick’s considerable research achievements have been recognized by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and honored with the American Vacuum Society’s Peter Mark Memorial Award, the Plasma Science and Technology Division Prize, the Dry Process Symposium Nishizawa Award, and the Tegal Thinker Award.

He earned his Ph.D. and B.S. degrees in physical chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Pennsylvania State University respectively.

Ava Hahn

Ava Hahn is senior vice president and chief legal officer at Lam Research, with responsibility for the company’s global legal affairs and government affairs functions.

Before joining Lam in 2019, Ava served as executive vice president, chief compliance officer, general counsel, and secretary at CA Technologies prior to its acquisition by Broadcom Corp. She previously served as general counsel and secretary at Aruba Networks, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and has held general counsel positions at ShoreTel, Inc., Genesis Microchip Inc. and the venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins and Felicis Ventures. Ava started her career at the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she practiced corporate and securities law.

She earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. in history from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mary Hassett

Mary Hassett is chief human resources officer at Lam Research, with responsibility for aligning Lam’s valued people resources to the company’s strategic priorities and supporting employee engagement, leadership development and a strong company culture.

Prior to joining Lam, Mary worked at Hewlett Packard Enterprise for nearly 25 years where she served in various of HR leadership roles, most recently as senior vice president of Human Resources for the company’s Hybrid IT organization.

Mary earned her Bachelor of Business Studies (B.B.S.) degree with a focus in French and HR studies from the University of Limerick, Ireland.

Rob Hawthorne

Rob Hawthorne is chief information officer at Lam Research, with responsibility for the company’s IT strategy, service delivery, and strategic technology partnerships.

Prior to joining Lam, Rob spent 18 years at Jabil, Inc., where he served in various IT leadership roles, most recently as chief information officer of the company’s Electronic Manufacturing Services Division.

Rob earned his M.B.A. in corporate finance and marketing and a B.S. degree in business administration and management from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.

Pat Lord

Patrick Lord is executive vice president of the Customer Support Business Group (CSBG) and Global Operations at Lam Research. He joined the company in 2012 following its acquisition of Novellus.

At Novellus, Pat served in a variety of executive leadership positions, most recently senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Direct Metals, GapFill, Surface Integrity Group, and Integrated Metals Business Units. Prior to Novellus, he worked at KLA-Tencor Corp., where he held various product management and marketing roles.

Pat earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Stacey MacNeil

Stacey MacNeil is chief communications officer at Lam Research, with responsibility for the company’s corporate communications, marketing communications, brand, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs including the Lam Foundation.

Prior to joining Lam, Stacey served as chief communications officer at Collins Aerospace. She has also held executive leadership positions at UTC Aerospace Systems and Hewlett-Packard Co. She began her communications career in radio and television broadcasting, followed by several years in the telecom industry.

Stacey currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Consortium for Graduate Engineering Degrees for Minorities (GEM): a nonprofit organization in the U.S. that is dedicated to increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in engineering and science at the master’s and doctoral levels.

Stacey earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University in Canada.

Scott Meikle

Scott Meikle, Senior Vice President, Global Customer Operations

Scott G. Meikle is senior vice president of Global Customer Operations at Lam Research.

Prior to joining Lam, Scott was an independent consultant, after serving as president of Inotera Memories, Inc. He started his career in process research and development at Micron Technology, Inc., where he went on to serve in various leadership roles in business operations across multiple geographies. He has over 25 years of experience in the memory devices sector of the semiconductor industry.

Scott earned his Ph.D. from Shizuoka University, a Master of Engineering degree in engineering physics from McMaster University, and a B.S. degree in physics from the University of Calgary.

Karsten Theess

Karsten Theess is corporate vice president of business operations and transformation at Lam Research, with responsibility for business resilience and physical- and cyber-security.

He has held a variety of leadership positions since joining Lam in 1997, including serving as vice president of pilot operations, overseeing Lam’s wet clean product operations in Villach, Austria, and its Customer Support Business Group.

Karsten earned his Master of Science degree in electrical engineering and business from Helmut-Schmidt University.

Vahid Vahedi

Vahid Vahedi is senior vice president and general manager of the Etch Business Unit at Lam Research.

He has held various leadership positions at Lam since joining the company in 1995, supporting product management and marketing for the Etch Business Unit, as well as overseeing development of Lam’s dielectric etch, conductor and 3DIC etch innovations.

Vahid earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Sesha Varadarajan

Sesha Varadarajan is senior vice president and general manager of the Deposition Business Unit at Lam Research. He joined the company in 2012 following its acquisition of Novellus Systems, Inc.

Prior to Lam, Sesha was senior vice president and general manager of the Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) and Electrofill Business Units at Novellus Systems, where he also served in a variety of other technology leadership roles.

Sesha earned his M.S. degree in manufacturing engineering and material science from Boston University and a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Mysore.
